The National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society are national organizations that recognize students for their achievements in the areas of knowledge, character, leadership and service. The NHS/NJHS aims to create and maintain a high profile on campus and encourage other students to meet the standards required for membership.
There are 2 high profile induction ceremonies each year during Fall and Spring Family Weekend to honor new members and present the ideals that the NHS/NJHS aims to uphold before the R-MA community. All members are encouraged to wear the honor cord on Mondays and for special ceremonies as a mark of honor and in order to keep the organization uppermost in the minds of all members of the R-MA community.
The NHS/NJHS typically holds meetings on a monthly basis, as the school calendar allows, that include opportunities to interview faculty members, alumni guest speakers, quiz bowls and other activities. The NHS/NJHS also sponsors seminars on intellectually stimulating topics for the benefit of the entire R-MA community, organizes recognition initiatives that create interaction between faculty and students, gives festive surprise gifts to students and is in the process of creating a NHS/NJHS commemoration garden. The NHS/NJHS also supports our many community service initiatives.
The NHS/NJHS awards scholarships to its most active members to help prepare them for college, and a NHS/NJHS trip to Hershey Park as a reward to members for their hard work and support of the organization.
